    1. DAY 1 | Arrival to Comodoro Rivadavia - Bahia Bustamante Lodge

Welcome to Patagonia. Arrival at Comodoro Rivadavia Airport. A driver will be waiting for you to start your adventure by RN 3 towards the Bahia Bustamante Lodge.

It was founded in the 1950s as a seaweed settlement, more than 400 seaweed workers and their families lived here, there was a church, a school, a police department and everything this small “town” and their inhabitants needed. Staying in Bahia Bustamante also means taking a journey to the past, to discover the amazing life of the pioneers of this truly remote place in Patagonia back then.

It is located 157 km away from Comodoro Rivadavia (around 3 hours).

Free afternoon to discover where you explore this private wildlife sanctuary, set in remote Patagonia by the sea.

      Dinner included

    2. DAY 2 Bahia Bustamante - Rock Canyon and Aristizabal Cape - Penguin Island

New day in Bahia Bustamante. You have 1 activity included on this day.

You can discover the Rock Canyon, following the path of a dry river until you reach the ocean. You will walk alongside immense walls 15 meters tall, formed by Jurassic rocks from the Mesozoic era. Some amazing tide pools are great fun for swimming and photo opportunities. You also visit a native archeological site. The canyon is protected from windy conditions, which makes it ideal for bird watching.

In the afternoon, you can go to the Aristizabal Cape. You will reach this amazing Cape, an important rocky point of imposing landscape, open ocean views & isolated beaches. You will come across diverse wildlife such as: lesser rheas, maras, grey foxes, armadillos and more. Once you reach the Aristizabal Lighthouse, you can do a short trek to watch Sea Lions, which usually rest in different spots around the Cape.

Another possible activity is exploring the Penguin Island. Only 15 minutes away from the Lodge this island is home to a colony of Magellanic Penguins. During low tide hours you can reach the island on foot, having the amazing experience of watching penguins, chicks and nests all around us.

Along the road to the island you will also be able to observe all kinds of Steppe wildlife.

A number of natural swimming pools are formed in between the rocks, and these are great fun for swimming with a view to the open ocean. The peninsula is a world of wonders to enjoy.

In the afternoon, we suggest you do a navigation to the Malaspina Cove visiting Sea Lion and Seabird colonies. You will appreciate the Vernacci Islands, which are home to Sea Lions (4000 animals during breeding season), Magellan Penguins (100.000 – Season: October to March) and colorful Marine Bird colonies.

    5. DAY 5 Nature safari at Zeballos: on the highest path in Patagonia

You will leave from Los Antiguos to the East, crossing the highest and most spectacular route of Southern Patagonia.

The road to Zeballos is parallel to the famous road 40, and was created at the beginning of the last century as an old border road to communicate the region of Los Antiguos with the Estancias located to the south. Today it is a fascinating setting because of its geology (you will be perplexed in front of the arsenic cones or even in front of the huge petrified trunks!) and its changing landscapes. You will appreciate the diversity of its fauna like nowhere elsewhere in Patagonia. This a place offers the possibility to observe flora and fauna of the region: condors, South Andean deers and “choiques” (rheas), for example.

This picturesque route is known to be the highest road in Patagonia and crossing four distinct environments: steppe, Andean forest, high meadows and mountains. You will enjoy a view over the impressive Monte San Lorenzo (3706 m). Almost guaranteed observation of condors, trekking between dykes basalt sandstone formations and simple contemplation of the landscape which changes with the seasons.

It is a unique opportunity to discover authentic Patagonia with the five senses!

      Lunch included

Small-group excursion with English/Spanish speaking guide

    6. DAY 6 Marble Chapels

Early departure from Los Antiguos heading West. You will discover the dizzying path through the Andes, immense lakes, steppe, and Patagonian forests to the neighboring country, Chile.

You can observe Mount San Valentín, an imposing summit of 4,058 meters, as well as the main mountains of Campo de Hielo Norte.

On-site, you will navigate on General Carrera Lake (or Lake Buenos Aires in its Argentinian part), one of the largest lakes in South America (1850 km2). The geology of its coasts is very varied, and includes, among other things, a base dating from the Paleozoic. These rocks composed of Calcium Carbonate have been shaped by the erosion of the waters of the lake, and have dug superb caves where the light of Patagonia plays with water and rock to give an enchanting spectacle.

      Lunch included

Small-group excursion with English/Spanish speaking guide

    7. DAY 7 Cueva de las Manos

Today you will discover the most captivating archaeological site of Patagonia, La Cueva de las Manos.

In the heart of the Rio Pinturas Canyon, these caves are a unique testimony to the presence of men in the region almost 10,000 years ago. But it is all the large amount of hands contours that impress most, and their almost perfect conservation until today.

You will be invited to follow the footsteps of the first inhabitants of Patagonia as you walk along the paths they used to travel through the canyon. The opportunity also to discover a part of the legendary route 40 less known to the general public, where you can observe the native fauna such as condors, guanacos or even pumas.

You will participate in beautiful hikes along the Canyon Caracoles, the Canyon Rio Pinturas and through the astonishing “Tierra de Colores” (Land of Colors), ideal site to contemplate the chromatic richness of the rock formations.

      Lunch included

Small-group excursion with English/Spanish speaking guide
