You will discover the flora, fauna, and the rural traditions of local communities, the local gastronomy, and the natural parks of the south of Argentina. 

A highlight of this trip will be the cultural exchange experience with a community of natives in Bariloche and the whale watching in Península Valdés.

  1. DAY 1 Welcome to Argentina Arrival in Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel

    You will arrive in Buenos Aires and you will be driven to your hotel in the neighborhood of Palermo.

    Free afternoon.

    Recommendation: At night, we suggest visiting a ”milonga”, a typical ballroom where tango lovers meet every night to dance. This traditional dance is classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

     

  2. DAY 2 Buenos Aires City Tour: Historic center and Southern Neighborhoods

    This morning, your guide will take you to discover the colorful neighborhood of La Boca, famous for its Caminito street, a true open-air museum. Then, you will visit the historic center, observing different architectural styles, and you will walk through its Haussmannian boulevards until the famous Plaza de Mayo. The tour ends in the bohemian neighborhood of San Telmo.

    Rest of the day free to discover the capital.

    The city tour lasts 3 hours.

  3. DAY 3 Welcome to Patagonia: Flight to Trelew and transfer to Puerto Pirámides

    You will leave the capital on a flight to Trelew. You will be transferred to Puerto Pirámides, in the heart of the Peninsula Valdés.

    On the road, you will enjoy the landscapes of this region. You will admire the steppes with impressive desert landscapes.

    After approximately 2 hours, you will arrive at your accommodation, a charming hotel located 150 meters from the beach.

    We recommend walking around Puerto Pirámides at your own rhythm.

  4. DAY 4 Sighting of southern right whales

    You will leave with a small group to observe southern right whales, which you will be able to see swimming in the waters of the Valdés Peninsula between June and December.

    The captain and his crew will tell you about the coast, its ecosystem, and the natural life cycle of these giant marine mammals.

    Return to Puerto Pirámides in the afternoon.

  5. DAY 5 Exploring the wildlife of Puerto Madryn

    Today you will discover another part of the Peninsula Valdes where you can see some penguins, sea lions, and seals. You can also visit the Interpretation Center and at the end of the day, you will return to Puerto Madryn, where you will spend the night

  6. DAY 6 Flight to Ushuaia and navigation on the Beagle Channel

    You will fly to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

    In the afternoon, meet a small group at Ushuaia Pier for a trip on a yacht along the Beagle Channel (boat max 12 people) to admire sea lions and cormorants. Heading to Island H, you set foot ashore for a short walk (1 hour approx) to discover Yámana archaeological sites, the fauna and flora of the island in the company of your guide.

    You will have a breathtaking view of the Lighthouse Les Éclaireurs, between Argentina and Chile, with the Andes Mountains as background.

     

    Duration: 4 hs.

    The boat has an interior cabin with toilets, snacks and waterproof clothing on board.

  7. DAY 7 Excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park

    In the morning you will make an excursion through the Tierra del Fuego National Park. It is known for its dramatic scenery, waterfalls, forests, mountains and glaciers, the Fagnano and Roca lakes. A popular hiking trail within the park is The Senda Costera (Coastal Path), connecting Ensenada Bay to Lapataia Bay on Lago Roca.

  8. DAY 8 San Pablo Cape and Rolito Ranch

    After breakfast, your adventure begins. You will enjoy Lake Escondido, the small town of Tolhuin and at noon you will arrive at provincial road ”A”, where you will take a gravel road to the Atlantic Ocean and Cape San Pablo. At this point, you will climb to an isolated mountain with an abandoned lighthouse at the end. You will appreciate the Desdemona, a ship that has been abandoned for almost 40 years.

     Later, you continue to Estancia Rolito; a charming ranch that keeps the spirit of a family business based on the tradition of sheep farming. You can also take the time to tour a portion of the magnificent 500-acre lenga forest, following thick green paths, visiting the shed where there are woolen balls from the first mowing.

    Return to your hotel after a unique experience.

  9. DAY 9 Flight to El Calafate and patagonian dinner in a cave

    Flight to the glaciers region! You will arrive in the city of El Calafate, and a local driver will take you to your hotel.

    At around 6 pm, your English-speaking guide will pick you up with 4×4. You will take a trail that offers an impressive panorama around the turquoise Argentino lake, between cliffs and with a view to the Andes Mountains.

    You will arrive at an archeological site where you will observe rock paintings from the pre-Tehuelche culture (more than 4000 years old!).

    Patagonian dinner on site (included), sheltered by a cave, before returning to El Calafate.

  10. DAY 10 Visit a local Estancia and navigation to the Perito Moreno Glacier

    Get ready to live a memorable day!

    Firstly, you will go through the Patagonian steppe before arriving at a typical Estancia. You will discover the traditional activities of the Argentinian gauchos and enjoy on the spot a typical ”asado” (barbecue) cooked right in front of you with the best wines of the country.

    After having lunch in this memorable setting in the middle of the plains of Patagonia, you´ll navigate the South and Rico arms of Lake Argentino and disembark at Las Monedas beach for a walk in the woods (low level of difficulty). You will explore a lenga forest until you arrive to a viewpoint where you will observe the South wall of the Glacier

    You will embark again to admire the wonderful Perito Moreno Glacier! It is an enormous ice mass that covers an area of 250 km and is one of the most impressive glaciers in the world. It is easy to approach the front of the glacier by walking along the footbridges.

  11. DAY 11 Navigation between the glaciers - Excursion in 4x4 to Estancia Cristina

    In the morning you will begin navigation through the north arm of the Argentine Lake where you will enjoy a privileged view on the front of the Upsala Glacier.

    You will disembark and begin your 4×4 adventure along ten kilometers through the mountain roads. Covered by ice until recently, you will discover landscapes of great geological interest. It will take you in ascent along the Feruglio cordon for 9.5 km. Once there, you will start a 20-minute walk on glacial erosion terrain up to the Upsala Glacier Lookout Point, which features sweeping views of Lake Guillermo, the imposing Upsala Glacier’s eastern front and the South Patagonian Continental Ice Field.

    In the afternoon you can visit the Estancia, its museum, a former shearing shed, and you will learn about the history of the true pioneers of southern Patagonia.

     

    Return to El Calafate at the end of the day by bus.

  12. DAY 12 Flight to Bariloche and Circuito Chico

    Transfer to the airport where you will take a flight to San Carlos de Bariloche. Upon arrival, you will pick up your rental car directly from the airport. 

    We recommend you begin your discovery of the city and its surroundings by doing the Circuito Chico with your rental car. You can begin by driving through Bustillo Avenue, with views of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Bonita Beach, and the entrance to the Bariloche Atomic Center. Then, you will arrive at the Cerro Campanario. Here you can choose to buy the chairlift ascent to reach the summit and have a view of the region’s lakes and mountains and an impressive view of the Andes.

    After this stage, you can continue by heading to the south shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi and then west to visit the Hotel Llao Llao, the Chapel of San Eduardo, Puerto Pañuelo via the San Pedro peninsula.

    You will cross the hotel’s golf course, the municipal forest with vegetation typical of the region and the Angostura bridge, which separates the Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes. Then you will cross Bahía López and the base of Cerro López.

    Before joining Avenue Bustillo, it is essential to stop at the panoramic point (Colonia Suiza region) to observe Lake Moreno, the Llao Llao Hotel, Lake Nahuel Huapi and the Andes from a different point of view .

     

  13. DAY 13 Exchange experience with a local community

    You will experience a cultural exchange with a small rural community, located in the heart of a valley about 30 km away from San Carlos de Bariloche. You will be welcomed by your host family with a few mates and a snack. In a magnificent landscape, you will discover the way of life in this community, their stories and customs, and will be able to participate in daily activities (traditional games, making farm cheese, milking cows, etc.

    After sharing a traditional “asado” with your hosts, a family member will take you to a walk around its surroundings.

    In the afternoon, you will enjoy a horseback ride with one of the family members. When you reach the top, in addition to the spectacular view, you will see some condors.

    You will spend the night in this amazing place.

     

    The room is private, with a private bathroom.

  14. DAY 14 Seven Lakes Road - From Bariloche to San Martín de Los Andes

    You will say goodbye to your host to begin your tour through the Seven Lakes Road.

    You will drive at your own rhythm through Road 40 on a trip to San Martin de Los Andes, a spectacular road between mountains, forests, and mirrored lakes. We recommend stopping to discover the towns of Villa La Angostura, Bosque de Los Arrayanes and the Vulignanco waterfall, and the viewpoint in Lake Lacar.

    Finally, you will arrive at San Martín de Los Andes where you will spend the night.

  15. DAY 15 Free day to discover Lanin National Park

    Today you can enjoy your day discovering the Lanin National Park with your rental car, one of the largest parks in the country.

    To get to its northern part, continue on the famous 40 road. You leave from San Martín de los Andes towards Junin de los Andes, a small, quiet and pretty town. On site, the Huechulafquen and Paimún lakes combine their waters in a postcard setting, surrounded by black volcanic sand beaches and snow-capped peaks. You will admire superb waterfalls in El Saltillo and can take an optional excursion to sail from Puerto Canoa. It is here that you will have undoubtedly the best view of the Lanin volcano, which is 3,776 meters high.

    The southern part is more developed: you can notably walk along the Lácar lake and the Nonthué lake, and discover the beauty of the ancient forests of Pehuén trees, also known as Araucarias.

     

  16. DAY 16 Flight to Buenos Aires

    Return of your rental car at Chapelco airport. 

    You take your flight back to Buenos Aires, where you will enjoy your last night freely. You can stroll around the neighborhood where your hotel is located.  The perfect opportunity to enjoy the bohemian atmosphere of San Telmo

     

    Recommendation: For the last night, we suggest closing this incredible trip with a tango show.

     

  17. DAY 17 End of the trip

    After breakfast, you will be transferred to the international airport according to your flight schedule.
