  1. Day 1 Local gastronomy and Boedo district

You will enjoy a personalized visit to the Boedo district, right in the center of Buenos Aires, with a program full of anecdotes of history, tango, arts, and literature. Finally, you will enjoy a meal in the house of a local family where you will taste typical Argentinian dishes and learn how to prepare empanadas.

You start your evening around 6.30 p.m., at the crossroads of San Juan and Boedo streets: you will discover the corners of Homero Manzi and Osvaldo Pugliese streets and also the literary past: the rival groups of Boedo and Florida (J.L.Borges), Pope Francis’s football club, San Lorenzo, the neighborhood murals and also the Church of Santa Cruz.

You will take a beer or coffee break at the famous Bar Margot and then head to the house of a local family.

Once there, you will participate in the preparation of the empanadas for dinner: you will learn how to stuff them and close them. While cooking you will learn about everyday life in the city.

The meal continues with typical Argentinian meat (la entraña) grilled on a “parrilla”, served with chimichurri sauce, a “criolla” salad, and small Andean potatoes. Malbec wine, mineral water included.

You will end your gastronomic experience with a typical Argentinian dessert.

My group of 14 people visited with the local family for a great dinner and empanada cooking session. everyone enjoyed the opportunity to try many of the local dishes and to even make one. the hosts were fantastic. as this was our first day in Argentina and it set the tone for the reminder of the trip.
